The plant is located out in Samudrapur in the Wardha district, though a lot of the talk happens around Nagpur MIDC and Hingana. Working with steel is heavy work, especially when the Maharashtra sun is beating down on the roof of the shed. It gets really hot inside, but that’s just part of the deal when you’re in the ispat business. Most of the guys here are from nearby villages, and we’ve been running this setup for a while now. The roads around Samudrapur can be a bit rough, especially during the monsoon when everything turns into a muddy mess, but the trucks still have to move the material out. We spend a lot of time checking the loads and making sure the furnaces are doing what they should. It’s loud, and there’s always a fine layer of dust on everything in the office, no matter how many times it gets wiped down. We don’t have any fancy corporate offices with glass walls; it’s just practical spaces where we can sit and look at the ledgers or talk to the drivers. Sometimes we have lunch together under the shade of a tree outside if it's too stuffy indoors. It’s honest work, keeping the production going and making sure we stay on top of the schedule. Everyone knows their job and we just get on with it without making a big fuss about things and we like it that way.
