Samco Battery

Gokhale Market is where you can find us, right at number 21. It’s an old market, so there’s a lot of history in these walls. The streets around here are always narrow and full of people carrying boxes or driving small tempos. Our shop, Samco Battery, is just a simple room filled with rows of batteries. We’ve got a small counter at the front where we handle the customers. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks from years of moving heavy stuff around. It’s a loud place because of all the shouting and horn-honking in the market, but we like the energy. We usually arrive around nine to open up the shutters. The dust from the market gets in everything, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the stock. There’s a tea shop two doors down that makes the best ginger tea, and we probably drink too much of it. We don't have fancy lights or any air conditioning. We just use a couple of old ceiling fans that hum all day. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s business. If someone is looking for a specific type of battery, they usually end up at our door eventually. We have been part of Gokhale Market for a long time and we don't see ourselves moving anywhere else. It’s home for us and our work.
