Raj Flower Shoppe

Raj Flower Shoppe is right in front of Acharaj Tower in the Sadar area. We start our day very early, usually before the sun is even up. That is when the fresh flowers arrive and we have to get them into water quickly. The air in the morning is nice and cold, which helps the plants stay fresh. By the time people start going to work at Acharaj Tower, we are already set up. Our space is not very big, so we have buckets of flowers sitting on the pavement sometimes. It makes the whole corner smell a bit better than the rest of the street. People stop by on their way to the temple or their offices to pick up a few things. We spend a lot of time trimming stems and picking off dead leaves. It is messy work and our hands are always wet. The street noise in Sadar is constant, with horns honking and people shouting, but we just focus on the colors in front of us. We do not have a fancy website or anything like that. People just know where we are because we have been in this spot for years. When it rains, we have to scramble to move everything under the small overhang so the petals do not get ruined. It is a long day, from early morning until late evening, but being around flowers is better than being in a closed office.
