Public Works Department, Government Of Maharashtra

You can find us over at the Process Server Society near the Ram Mandir in Swavlambi Nagar. We are part of the Public Works Department for the Government of Maharashtra here in Nagpur. Our office is number 50. It’s a pretty standard government workspace. We have the usual stacks of paper, the smell of old files, and a few ceiling fans that have seen better days. We handle a lot of the local infrastructure maintenance. It might be a road that needs leveling or a public building that needs a new roof. We aren't here to make things sound better than they are. The work is often slow and involves a lot of different departments. We spend a good chunk of our time just making sure the right people are in the right place. It’s a practical job. We don’t have a marketing department telling us what to say. We just talk to the people who come in and try to give them straight answers about the projects in the area. Nagpur gets incredibly hot in the summer, which affects how much we can get done outside. We just keep at it, one day at a time. It’s mostly about keeping the basic services running so the city can function. We are just a small part of a much bigger system, doing our bit from this office in Swavlambi Nagar.
