Pioneer Constructions, Nagpur

Over here in Nagpur, our place is called Pratibha. We are situated in Ambedkar Nagar, right near the Zenda Chowk in the Dharampeth area. It’s a good, central spot. Being in construction in Nagpur means you have to deal with some of the hottest summers in the country. We are usually out on-site more than we are in the office. The office is just a place to store our papers and meet up before heading out. We do a lot of different building tasks. Some days we are looking at drawings, other days we are arguing with suppliers about why the sand hasn't arrived yet. It’s a lot of coordination. We aren't some big corporate company with hundreds of employees. It’s just a small group of us trying to do right by the people who hire us. We use local laborers and we know the shops around Dharampeth pretty well. There is always a lot of tea drinking and talking involved in getting a project finished. We don't have a polished way of speaking or any mission statements. We just like to see a structure go up from nothing. It’s satisfying to walk past a building and remember when it was just a hole in the ground. We have been part of this Nagpur community for years, and we just keep doing what we do, one brick at a time, until the job is done.
