Orient Cement

Down at 43, Gorle Layout in Gopalnagar, you’ll find us working away. This is Nagpur, so the summers really push us to work fast in the mornings. Orient Cement is what we handle every day. It’s a decent spot, fairly easy for people to find once they get into the layout. We spend a lot of time on the phone or writing down orders on paper pads. There’s no high-tech system here, just us keeping track of the bags coming in and going out. The neighborhood is mostly residential, so we try not to make too much noise too early. But when the truck is there, it has to be unloaded. We’ve got a small crew, and everyone knows their job. It gets dusty, of course. You can't really avoid that with cement. We’ve got a small space to sit, but mostly we are on our feet. Sometimes people come in just to ask about prices or how many bags they might need for a small wall. We tell them what we know based on what we see. It’s not a corporate vibe at all. Just a regular workplace where we get our hands dirty. We like being in Gopalnagar. It feels like home after all these years of being in the same spot. We just keep the gate open and the coffee going for when the drivers arrive after a long trip.
