Metallica (Artist, Engravers & Designer)

Metallica operates from the 5th floor of Swapnil Apartments, specifically in unit F-2. We are located on Abhyankar Road, which is right near Dhantoli Park. Being on the 5th floor means we get a bit of a view, but mostly it means we spend a lot of time waiting for the elevator when we have heavy materials to move. As artists, engravers, and designers, our workspace is usually covered in metal shavings, sketches, and various tools. It’s not the cleanest place because engraving is inherently messy work. We’ve been in the Dhantoli area for a long time and we like the neighborhood. The apartment building wasn't really designed for a workshop, so we have to be careful about the noise we make so we don't bother the neighbors too much. There are usually three or four of us here, hunched over workbenches with our magnifying glasses or working on the design software. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Most people who come to see us are looking for something specific, so they don’t mind the clutter of a working studio. We spend a lot of time discussing how to get a particular detail just right on a piece of metal. It’s slow, steady work that requires a lot of patience. We just keep our heads down and focus on the engraving, trying to make sure every line is exactly where it should be.
