About Maheshwari Animal Welfare Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Nagpur
We run the Maheshwari Animal Welfare Foundation out of a flat in Vrindavan Apartment. It’s unit A-3/41. We are right across from Hislop College on Henassy Road in the Civil Lines area. It’s a decent neighborhood with lots of trees. Our place is usually full of papers and sometimes a stray cat or two that we are looking after. Being near the college means we get a lot of students coming by to ask questions or help out. We started this because we saw too many animals on the street with nobody to look after them. It’s not a big shelter, just our small office where we coordinate things. We spend a lot of time on the phone calling vets or trying to find homes for dogs. The apartment can get a bit cramped when we have a few volunteers over. Civil Lines is usually quiet, but we keep busy. We don't have a big budget, so we have to be careful with every rupee. Often we are out on the streets instead of in the office. It’s messy work sometimes, and our clothes usually have some dirt or fur on them. We just care about the animals. It’s a simple setup, but it works for what we need to do. We just want the street dogs and cats to have a slightly better life than they do now without any help at all.
