The shop on Nikalas Mandir Road is where we spend most of our time. It’s been quite a while since we first opened up here. In the morning, plenty of light comes in as soon as the shutters go up. Mostly, we just handle the gold and silver items that people come looking for. Keeping the glass cases clean is a constant job, though we try our best. On slow days, sitting and watching the traffic pass by outside is how we pass the time. Customers usually want something small for a wedding or just a nice ring to wear. We bring out the trays and show them everything we have in stock. It involves a lot of looking and chatting. If the tea guy stops by, we take a quick break. Karan Kothari Jewellery Pvt. Ltd. is the name on the front, but locals usually just call us the place near the temple. A lot of our stock stays tucked away in the back safe. When a big family comes in together, the space gets crowded pretty fast. You won't find fancy lights here like in the big city malls. We use normal bulbs because they show the metal for what it really is. The tile floor is simple and easy to keep swept. Most of our day is spent organizing little boxes. Being right here on Nikalas Mandir Road means people just find us by walking past. It's just a regular, practical business for us, and we like it that way.
