We are located at G-136, right within the Maratha Cement Works area which is a big unit for Gujarat Ambuja Cements Limited here in Chandrapur. This part of Maharashtra is known for being very industrial and, honestly, quite dusty because of all the cement and coal around. Living and working here is different from being in a city office. The colony is where most of us stay, so you never really leave work behind. You wake up and see the chimneys and the big machinery every day. It’s a huge site, and our spot is just one small piece of it. We spend our time managing the local tasks and making sure the plant operations have what they need from the administrative side. The weather here is some of the hottest you will find, so the afternoons are slow but the mornings are very busy. There is a sense of community because we all live in the same area. We see the same faces at the local mess and during the evening walks. It is a very practical way of living. We focus on the output and making sure the bags are loaded and moved out on time. The sounds of the plant are like background music that you eventually stop noticing. It is just a regular life in a heavy industrial zone, doing what needs to be done without any extra talk.
