Baba Old Book Shop

Baba Old Book Shop is located at 611 Cape Road in Kottar. It’s an old building, and honestly, it looks it. We have a lot of used books that have seen better days. The smell of aging paper is the first thing you notice when you walk in. We don't have much of a system for organizing things. Books are stacked on shelves, under tables, and sometimes just in piles on the floor. You have to be patient if you’re looking for something specific. Cape Road is always busy, so there is a lot of dust that drifts in through the front door. We spend a lot of time just wiping things down. It’s a small shop and it can get quite hot in the afternoons. We have a single ceiling fan that clicks while it turns. People stop by to sell us their old collections, so our stock is always changing. Sometimes we find interesting things tucked inside the pages, like old bookmarks or notes. Kottar is a lively area and we get all sorts of visitors. Some people stay for hours just browsing. We don't mind. We usually sit near the front and watch the traffic go by on Cape Road. It’s a simple way to spend the day. We don't have a website or anything like that. If people want to see what we have, they just have to come in and look. It’s a bit of a mess, but we like it that way.
