Sairam Department Store

The store is at 502-6 on Settygunta Road in the Nawabpet area. It is a department store but not like the big ones you see in the malls. We just have a lot of different sections for groceries and household things that families around here use every day. We start early in the morning when the milk arrives. It is usually the quietest time of day before the sun gets too high. By noon, the fans are going full speed and it stays busy until the sun goes down. We have piles of things everywhere because we try to keep everything in stock so nobody has to go elsewhere. The floor gets a lot of wear and tear from all the walking back and forth. We don't use any big marketing tricks. People come here because they know we are here and we have what they need. Sometimes we have a little chat with the older people who have lived in Nawabpet forever. They remember when this road was much smaller. It is a simple place to work and we take things one day at a time. Every evening we count the stock and lock up the shutters. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning to night without any fuss or fancy talk. It's not about being the biggest, just about being reliable for the street and the people who live nearby.
