Sri Krishna Cotton Mills

Out here at Sy No 324 in Gaggalapally Village, life revolves around the crop cycles. Sri Krishna Cotton Mills is basically a collection of loud machines and a lot of floor space. We start early, usually before the heat gets too bad in the afternoon. The trucks line up outside the gate and the drivers drink tea while they wait for their turn. It's a bit of a mess during the peak season with all the shouting and the dust flying around. We've got a small crew, mostly locals who’ve been around for years. We don't talk much while the engines are running because you can't hear a thing anyway. It’s dusty work, and your clothes end up smelling like raw earth and machine oil. The building isn't much to look at, just functional and solid. We spend a lot of time fixing belts and clearing out jams in the machinery. Sometimes we sit outside for a break when there's a gap in the supply. Gaggalapally is a quiet place otherwise. Most people here are farmers or have some connection to the land. We see them every day when they bring their harvest in on their tractors. It’s not a glamorous job, but it fills the day and pays the bills. We don’t really do fancy paperwork, just enough to keep track of the weight coming in. If the weather holds, we stay late. If it pours, we shut the doors and wait it out.
