Madhev & Company is tucked away at 46 Bazzar Street in Nagapattinam. If you know the area, you know how busy Bazzar Street gets with all the shops and people moving around. We’ve been part of this street for a long time. Our shop is old-fashioned and we like it that way. We deal with various trading bits and pieces that people in town need. It’s a family-run sort of place, so you’ll usually find one of us behind the counter or out the back checking the inventory. The building has seen better days, maybe, but it’s sturdy and serves us well. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertisements. People in Nagapattinam just know us by word of mouth. Every morning we open up the shutters and start the day with a tea. It’s a lot of talking to regulars and keeping track of what’s in stock. The sea breeze sometimes reaches us here, which is nice in the summer. We aren't trying to be the biggest company around. We just want to keep things going and provide what’s needed for the local trade. It’s a simple life on Bazzar Street. Sometimes it's noisy with the horns and the crowds, but that’s just the character of the place. We’ve seen many businesses come and go, but Madhev & Company stays right here at number 46. We just take it one day at a time and keep the books straight.
