Deepak Tea

Deepak Tea is located at 94, Kandamangalam. It is just a simple house and a workspace combined. We don't have a big sign outside or a glass storefront. Most people find us by word of mouth in the neighborhood. We started this because we knew a bit about tea and wanted to work for ourselves. The space at 94 is where we store the bags and do all the packing. It gets very hot in the summer, so we usually start our work very early in the morning before the sun is too high. It is just a few of us working here. We spend a lot of time cleaning the leaves and making sure no small stones or twigs are left in. It is tedious work but necessary. We don't have any big machinery, so everything is done by hand. We fill the small packets and tie them with string. It looks a bit old-fashioned, but people seem to like it that way. We aren't trying to be the biggest tea seller around. We just want to sell something decent to the people in Kandamangalam. Sometimes the tea arrives from the hills and it smells so strong it fills the whole street. We like those days. It is a quiet life, mostly just us and the tea bags. We keep things basic and don't worry about being fancy. It is enough for us to get by and stay busy with the work we have.
