Darmani Borwell

At Darmani Borwell, we operate out of No. 941 on North Street in Ayyavadi, near Kumbakonam. Our business is all about water, or rather, finding it. We spend most of our time out on sites with the drilling rigs, but this is where we keep the equipment and handle the paperwork. It is a family-run kind of thing, and we have lived in this area for years. Drilling a borewell is messy and unpredictable work. You never quite know what you will hit deep down. We do not promise miracles or use fancy words to describe what we do. We just bring the rig, set it up, and start drilling. Some days the ground is easy, other days it is nothing but hard rock that wears down the bits. We have seen it all in the fields around Kumbakonam. People come to us because their old well dried up or they are building a new house and need a steady supply. We do not have a polished office; it is mostly just a place to park the trucks and store the pipes. We are usually out in the sun, covered in mud and grease, making sure the job gets done. It is honest work that people really need, and we are glad to be the ones they call when the taps run dry. We just pack up and move to the next spot.
