Sangeetayan Music College

Sangeetayan Music College is over in Ward Number 2, in the Rupnagar area of Lanka, Nagaon. It is a part of town that is mostly residential, so it is relatively quiet, which helps with the music. We have various rooms where different instruments are taught. You might hear a sitar in one room and someone practicing vocals in another. It is a small college, and we have been teaching the local community for a few years now. The instructors are local musicians who just want to pass on what they know. We do not have a huge campus; it is more like a converted house that fits our needs. People from around Nagaon come here in the afternoons and evenings. We do not use any fancy recording gear or high-tech systems. It is all about the traditional way of learning music through practice and listening. The floors are often covered with mats for sitting, and the walls have photos of famous musicians from the past. It is a very humble setup. We manage the schedules on a simple wall calendar in the main hall. Parents often wait outside while their children finish their lessons. It is a nice little community of people who just enjoy music. We are not trying to be a big institution, just a local spot for learning. It feels like home to most of us.
