Enjoy Ice Cream

Located at 478 in Mubarak Mohalla, our little shop has been part of Chamarajanagar for a good while now. It isn’t a large place, just enough room for the freezers and a small counter where we stand. Running an ice cream shop here means you get to know every neighbor by their first name. We open up in the late morning, usually just as the sun starts getting really warm. The first thing I do is wipe down the glass on the display because it gets fingerprints from all the kids leaning on it. We don't have any of those fancy digital signs or polished floors you see in the city malls. Our floor is just plain cement, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s home to us. The fridge has a bit of a hum to it that you stop noticing after an hour or two. On the weekends, the mohalla gets really busy with families walking around, and we end up scooping until our wrists get a bit sore. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a place to get a cold treat when the weather is sticky. Sometimes we run out of napkins or the spoons are late arriving, but we manage. People around here don't mind the wait. They just sit on the stools outside and talk about their day. It’s a nice way to spend the time. We keep the doors open late on Fridays.
