Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd

We are out in the village of Shimurali in the Nadia district of West Bengal. Our office for Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd is near the Shimurali post office. It is a very different setting from the big city offices. Around here, you see a lot more green and things move at a slower pace. We work from a simple building in the Chakdah police station area. The team here is small, mostly locals who know the district well. We spend a lot of time on our bikes traveling between different sites. In the office, we have the basic necessities like a few computers and some sturdy wooden tables. We don’t have air conditioning, so the ceiling fans are always humming during the day. We get our drinking water from the local pump and bring our own lunch from home. It is a very grounded way of working. We deal with the local weather, which can be quite unpredictable during the monsoon. When the rains come, we have to make sure the paperwork stays dry. It’s an honest day’s work for all of us. We manage the logistics and labor for the company in this part of West Bengal. There isn’t any corporate polish here, just a group of people making sure the jobs get finished. We enjoy the quiet of the village after the workday is over. It’s a practical and straightforward life for our small team.
