About Saha Handlooms And Textiles – Fashion & Trends in Nadia
Our place is located in Natun Buincha, right near the Dakshin Phulia area. If you know this part of West Bengal, you know that weaving is what everyone does here. We are situated quite close to the Buincha Krishi Bazar, so on market days, the whole road is packed with people and vegetables and cycles. At Saha Handlooms And Textiles, the rhythm of the handlooms is something you get used to very quickly. It’s a steady clicking sound that fills up the rooms from morning until the sun goes down. We work with a lot of cotton and traditional threads that come in from the local suppliers. The air inside always has a bit of lint floating around, which is just part of the job when you deal with textiles. We don’t have a big fancy showroom with glass windows. It’s more of a traditional setup where the looms take up most of the space. My family has lived in Phulia for a long time, and we just kept the textile work going because it’s what we know best. Sometimes the monsoon rains make it hard to dry the dyed yarns, and we have to wait for a bit of sun. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. People mostly find us through word of mouth or by seeing the work we do. We just try to make sure the fabric is sturdy and the colors are what people asked for.
