Mangaldweep Foundation

The Mangaldweep Foundation is based out of Swapan Biswas’s house in Durlabhpur. We are in the Nadia district, specifically in the Sundalpur area near the Hogalberia police station. It is a bit far from the main towns, which is why we like it. We focus our work on the rural families around here who don’t always get a lot of attention. Our office is just a part of the house where we keep our supplies and files. It’s a very informal setup. You’ll usually find us sitting on the porch or in the yard talking over our plans. We don’t have a mission statement or any of that corporate stuff. We just know what needs to be done in the village and we try to do it. Nadia is a beautiful place with a lot of trees and fields, and we spend a lot of our time outdoors. We aren't trying to change the whole world; we just want to make things a little easier for our neighbors in Durlabhpur. Sometimes we don't have all the answers, so we ask the older folks in the village for advice. It’s a real community effort. We keep our expenses low so we can put everything back into the local projects. If you come by, you’ll probably be offered a cup of tea and a seat. That’s just the way we do things here.
