Up in Ranaghat-ii, specifically in the Jyotipally area of Prafullanagar, is where you will find us. We operate out of Manoj Kumar Sarakar’s place. It is a quiet neighborhood for the most part, though things get a bit more active when the sun is up. Buincha Collective Nidhi Limited is basically just a group of us from the Nadia district working together. We didn't want to make things complicated. Most people who live around here know where the house is. We use a couple of rooms to keep our records and talk to anyone who walks in. It’s not a corporate office with glass walls or anything like that. We have some wooden chairs and a table where we do the paperwork. Sometimes the neighbor's dog wanders in, and we just let it be. Being in West Bengal, we see a lot of changes with the seasons, but the work stays the same. We handle what needs to be done for the collective. People stop by on their way home to chat about their day or check on their small savings. It’s a very local thing. We don't have a big sign outside, just enough for folks to know they are in the right spot. Everything is kept in simple books. We know the faces of every person who comes through the door because they are our neighbors. It’s a practical way to run things.
