About Biswas Handloom Saree – Fashion & Trends in Nadia
Out here in Ranaghat, things move at their own pace. We've been working with handloom sarees for a long time. It’s what we know. My family has been involved with weaving and selling for as long as I can remember. The shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, but inside we have stacks of sarees that come from the local looms. We spend a lot of time talking to the weavers and making sure the colors are right. Sometimes the shipments are late because of the weather or something else, and we just have to wait. It can get hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running and maybe share some cold water with whoever stops by. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop around. We just want to sell good sarees to the local people and anyone who happens to be passing through Ranaghat. There’s a lot of history in these threads, though we don't talk about it like that. It's just work. We show the sarees, talk about the fabric, and help people pick something they like. Most of our customers are people we've known for years. They come in for their daughters' weddings or for festivals. We remember what they bought last time and what they like. It's a simple way to run a business, and it works for us. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in.
