Out in the Nadia district, we have our office in a place called Paschimjagodanandopur. It is a long name for a small, quiet village near Veranar. We are based at Bhakta Ghosh’s residence. BHUPAN MUTUAL BENEFIT NIDHI LIMITED started here because it’s where the community is. We don't have a big corporate building with security guards. If you want to find us, you just ask for Bhakta’s house. The surroundings are mostly green fields and small houses, which is a nice change from the city noise. We spend our mornings drinking tea and getting the ledgers ready for the day. A lot of our members are people we have known for years. They drop by after finishing their chores or on their way to the market. The office is just a simple room with some wooden chairs and a big table where we spread out all the forms. We don't do much in terms of fancy technology, but we keep our books straight. It’s the kind of place where a handshake still means something. Life in Paschimjagodanandopur is straightforward, and we try to keep our business that way too. We don't have a marketing department telling us what to say. We just tell people how it is and help them with their savings. It’s a humble setup, but it works for everyone here.
