Out here in Dulatabad, things move a bit slower than in the city. Our place, B. M. Food Products Pvt. Ltd., is right near the Bishnupur police station area. It’s a village setting, so you see more green than concrete when you look out the window in the morning. We focus on food items, mostly processing and packing what comes in from the local farmers. The air around here usually smells like whatever we are working on that day. Sometimes it’s spices, and other times it’s grains. It’s a practical building, nothing too modern, just sturdy walls and plenty of space for the machines we use. Most of the workers live nearby in the village, so everyone knows each other’s names and families. We start early, usually before the heat of the day really kicks in. There is always a lot of cleaning to do because you have to keep a food place very tidy. The trucks come down the narrow roads to pick up the finished packets. Sometimes the rain makes the paths muddy, and we have to wait a day or two to move things out. It’s just how it goes in a place like this. We don’t have a big marketing team or a fancy website. We just make the food products and send them out. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Evenings are quiet, just the sound of the crickets and the last few people heading home to their families.
