We’ve been here in Baro Goswami Para for a while now. Santipur is a place where everyone knows about cloth, so it makes sense for us to be here in Nadia. The office isn't anything fancy, just a spot where we get the work done every day. Most mornings start with checking on the stocks and seeing what needs to go out to the weavers or the buyers. West Bengal gets really humid, so the fans are always going full blast in the rooms. We handle a lot of different textiles, and sometimes the piles of fabric get a bit high on the tables. It’s a bit of a maze back there. People come and go, mostly locals who have been in the trade for years. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood outside, kids playing or someone selling vegetables on the street. It’s just how it is. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s mostly about making sure the orders are correct and the quality of the material is what it should be. If you walk down the lane, you’ll find us easily enough near the main part of the Para. We stay busy with the local cycles of the market, especially during the festive seasons when everyone wants new clothes. It’s a lot of manual work, moving bundles around and making sure the paperwork isn't a mess, which it sometimes is. That's just part of running a textile business here in Santipur.
