Our place is right by the rail gate in Panchgachia, so it’s pretty hard to miss us if you’re in the neighborhood. It’s usually quite noisy because of the trains passing by all the time, and you kind of have to stop talking for a minute whenever the whistle blows. We deal with all sorts of lubricants and oils here. The shop is filled with barrels and containers of different sizes, and there is always a bit of a greasy smell in the air, but you get used to it after a while. It’s a bit dusty inside because the road outside is always busy with traffic and people moving about. We spend a lot of time just organizing the stock and talking to the folks who stop by. Most of our customers are regulars who live nearby or drivers passing through who need something for their engines. We don’t have a big staff or anything, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. Sometimes the railway gate stays shut for a long time and the traffic piles up, which gives us a chance to sit outside for a bit. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we don’t really go in for anything fancy or complicated. We open up early, do what needs to be done, and try to make sure we have what people are looking for. It’s honest work and it keeps us occupied throughout the week.
