The Star Aluminium Works

You’ll find The Star Aluminium Works at C-50 in the Yadavgiri Industrial Estate. It’s a typical industrial plot with a big metal door that we slide open every morning at eight. The place is filled with long extrusions of aluminium and a few saws that make a high-pitched whine when they cut. We make window frames, doors, and other bits for houses and offices nearby. It’s not a fancy showroom. We have samples hanging on the walls, but they’re a bit dusty. I’ve been working with metal since I was a teenager, and this shop is where I spend most of my life now. We have a few workers who’ve been with us for years. We don't use any fancy software to design things; we mostly just use a pencil and a measuring tape. It works fine for what we do. The floor is always covered in silver shavings, and you have to wear thick boots so you don't get cut. We don't talk much while the machines are running because it’s too loud anyway. Sometimes we sit outside on plastic chairs during the break to get some fresh air away from the metal smell. We’re just a small part of the Yadavgiri estate. We do the jobs as they come in and try to keep things moving. There isn't much more to it than that. Just honest work with our hands. We focus on getting the measurements right every single time.
