Laxmipura is a quiet enough place if you know which streets to take. We are tucked away at 84, 2nd Cross, doing our thing at Mhep Engineering. Most people wouldn't even notice the shop if they weren't looking for it. It is just a regular building where we handle engineering tasks and mechanical parts. We started with just a few machines and a lot of grit. Nowadays, we have more gear, but the space still feels the same as it did on day one. There is a specific smell of cut metal and coolant that lingers in the air here. We usually start the day early before the sun gets too high, getting the heavy work out of the way. Our neighbors on the 2nd Cross are mostly used to the clinking sounds coming from our side of the fence. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to answer the phones with a scripted greeting. It’s usually just one of us wiping our hands on a rag before picking up. We take the work as it comes and try to be fair about how long things take. It is a practical life in a practical part of town. We are just glad to have a roof over our heads and enough work to keep the lights on every month. Sometimes things go wrong and we have to stay late to fix a mistake, but that is part of the job we chose.
