Metro Fresh Super Market

Being located at 45/2 on the Main Road in Madikeri, right near the private bus station, means Metro Fresh Super Market is always a bit of a hive of activity. It can get quite loud with the buses pulling in and out all day and people rushing to catch their rides. We try to keep the place tidy, but with so many people coming through, the floors get muddy quickly, especially when it rains, which happens a lot here in the hills. We focus on keeping the vegetables and fruits looking okay, though sometimes the transport takes longer than we’d like. The air in Madikeri is usually cool, which helps keep the produce from spoiling too fast. Our staff is mostly local people who know their way around the town. We spend a lot of time stocking the aisles and making sure the prices are marked clearly on the bins. It’s not a giant supermarket like you see in the cities, but it’s big enough for what we need here. Sometimes tourists wander in looking for snacks for their bus trip, and we have to help them figure out what everything is. The back room is always a bit of a mess with empty crates and boxes waiting to be picked up. We don’t have any fancy music playing, just the sound of the traffic and people chatting. It’s a busy way to spend the day and we just keep moving until closing time.
