Down in Hanur Post, things move a bit slower than the big cities. Maxpower is located right here in Kollegal Taluk, which is part of the Chamraj Nagar district. It is a long way from the city center, but we like it that way. We mostly deal with power problems because the grid around here can be a bit unreliable at times. Farmers from the nearby villages come in quite often asking about pumps and how to keep their lights on during the night. We have a small shop that is usually a bit cluttered with batteries and wires. It’s not the cleanest place because there is always work going on. My cousin helps out with the accounts and I handle the tech side of things. We drink a lot of tea from the stall down the street while we wait for deliveries to arrive. Sometimes the trucks get delayed on the way to Chamraj Nagar, so we just have to wait. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. Hanur is a good community and we’ve lived here all our lives. We know most of the people who walk through the door. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. The rainy season is always the toughest because the roads get muddy and it is hard to get the gear out to the farms. But we manage somehow and keep the shop open.
