Vijayshankar Constructions Pvt Ltd. operates out of an old place called "Chaitanya" on JLB Road in Mysore. It’s No. 10/1B in the Lakshmipuram area, which is a part of town that still has some of that old-world charm Mysore is known for. The building belongs to the Vedhesh family, and it’s been the hub for our construction work for quite a long time. JLB Road is usually busy with people going to and from the college or the market, but once you step inside the gates of Chaitanya, it’s a lot more peaceful. We have high ceilings and those old-style windows that let in a lot of dust from the road. Our desks are old wooden ones, and they are usually buried under site reports and permit papers. There isn't a lot of space for walking around because we keep a lot of equipment and files everywhere. Mysore is a small enough city that we run into our clients at the grocery store or the park, so we have to be honest about how things are going. We don’t have a fancy reception area with a coffee machine. If you want water, you go to the cooler in the back. It’s a practical, no-nonsense office where we spend our time arguing over brick prices and looking at timelines. We’ve been part of the Lakshmipuram neighborhood long enough that even the postman knows us by name without looking at the mail.
