Sri Lakshmi Fine Arts & Crafts

We’ve been here on Sawday Road for quite a long time now. Most people know us because we’re right near the Mission Hospital, which makes it easy to find. The shop is filled with all sorts of things, mostly stuff we’ve collected or made over the years. Some days it’s quite busy with people just passing by or coming from the hospital, and other days it’s just us sitting here cleaning the dust off the shelves. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the fine arts and crafts side of things because everything needs careful handling. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. It’s just a regular shop with stacks of items everywhere you look. Sometimes the rain makes the road a bit messy, but customers still find their way in. We usually start early in the morning and stay until late evening. My uncle used to run things, and now we just carry it on. There’s always something to do, like unpacking new boxes or talking to the regulars who stop by for a chat. It’s not a big corporate place, just a local spot where we know most of the people on the street. We try to keep things simple and just show what we have available. It’s been our life for years, and the neighborhood feels like home. You get used to the noise of the traffic and the smell of the nearby tea stalls.
