Sree Lakshmi Ventakeshwara Travels is our small business based in Mysore, right in the heart of the 570001 area. We picked a long, traditional name because it felt right for the kind of place we are. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the city, just a reliable one that people can call when they need to get somewhere. Our office is a modest space where we spend most of our time coordination between the drivers and the customers. It’s a lot of juggling schedules and hoping the traffic near the palace isn't too backed up. We don't use any high-tech systems to manage our trips, mostly just a big diary and some pens that always seem to go missing. Mysore has its own rhythm and we try to stick to it. Sometimes we take people on long trips to the hills, and other times it is just a quick drop-off at the bus stand. We make sure the cars are running okay and that the tires are good, which is basically the most important part of what we do. It’s a lot of standing around talking to the drivers while they wait for their next turn. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters for us, we just talk to people like they are our neighbors because they usually are. We know the city like our own backyard and that helps us a lot.
