Out here on Mercara Road, things are a bit different than being in the middle of a big city. Being near Belvadi Post means we have a bit more space, which you definitely need when you're running a foundry. Ferro Foundries is basically what the name says. We deal with iron and casting, so there’s always a furnace running and the smell of hot metal in the air. It’s a tough environment, especially when the weather gets humid, but the crew here is used to it. We spend most of our time around the molds and the sand, making sure the pours go right. It’s dusty and loud, and your clothes are never really clean by the end of the shift. We’ve got a routine that starts early before the sun gets too high. There isn't any slick corporate office here; it's mostly just the plant and a small space for the paperwork. The trucks come down the road to pick up the castings, and we spend a lot of time loading them up. It’s a straightforward business. We make the parts, people buy them, and we move on to the next batch. Some of the families around Belvadi have worked with us for a long time. It feels more like a community project than a big company sometimes. We just focus on the metal and the heat and getting the work done. The road outside can get dusty when the wind picks up, but that's life in a foundry.
