Prasad Hardware

If you walk into Pankaj Market in Sarana Ganj, you will find us near the Bank of India. I’ve been running Prasad Hardware for years now. It started small and just kind of stayed that way, which suits me just fine. The shop is full of tools, nails, and all kinds of bits and pieces that people need for their homes. It’s a bit dusty in here, but that is the nature of a hardware store. I know where almost everything is, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. The market gets very crowded on certain days, especially when the bank is busy. I spend a lot of my time talking to contractors and local guys trying to fix things themselves. Sometimes they bring in a broken part and ask if I have a replacement. I do my best to help them out. We don't have any big marketing plans or fancy brochures. People just know we are here because we’ve been here so long. My son helps out when he can, but mostly it’s just me behind the counter. The shelves are packed tight and sometimes I have to use a ladder to reach the top. It keeps me active. I enjoy the rhythm of the market, the sounds of people bargaining, and the smell of metal and oil in the shop. It’s honest work and it pays the bills. We just take things one day at a time here.
