District Council

Our office is tucked away in Gali 2 on Raza Marg. It is easy to find if you know the landmark of Haji Illiyas’s house, since we are right there. Muzaffarpur is a busy place, and this lane is no different. You hear the sounds of the street all day long—rickshaws, people talking, and the occasional goat. Being a District Council office, there is always someone coming in with a question or a document. We sit at these old wooden desks that have seen better days. The floors are stone and stay relatively cool in the Bihar summer. We have a lot of files. They are stacked on shelves and sometimes on the floor when we run out of room. It is a government-style atmosphere but more local, like a community hub. We speak the local language mostly, and things get done at their own speed. The address is S/O Haji Illiyas Raza, and that helps people find us. Muzaffarpur 842002 is home for us. We drink a lot of chai during the day while we sort through the council matters. It isn't a modern glass building. It's an old-fashioned space where people from the district come when they need something sorted. We try to be helpful, even when the paperwork gets a bit overwhelming. It is just a regular day-to-day operation here in Gali 2, nothing fancy about it at all.
