Amrendra General Store

Our shop is at Wad No 5 in Rasiya Shiv Nagar. It is a typical corner store where we keep a bit of everything. From soap and lentils to notebooks for the kids, we try to stock what the neighbors ask for. I spend most of my day behind the counter, weighing things out or looking for change in the drawer. It’s a small space, so things get stacked pretty high up to the ceiling. You have to be careful not to knock anything over when you walk in. The street outside is usually busy with people walking home or kids playing. We know almost everyone who comes in by their first name. It’s not just about selling things, it’s about being part of the street. If someone is short a few rupees, we usually tell them to bring it next time. That’s just how it works here. Some mornings are quiet, and I just sit and watch the traffic go by. Then suddenly, five people come in at once wanting different things. It keeps me on my feet. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. If the door is open, we are here. It’s a simple life running a general store in Rasiya Shiv Nagar. I have been doing this for years and it is just what I do every single day.
