Apna Kirana

Our shop, Apna Kirana, is right in Ward 6 of Runi Saidpur. We are very close to the Middle School, so we get a lot of kids and teachers stopping by during the day. It is a simple grocery store, nothing too fancy at all. We try to keep all the basic things that people in the village need for their daily cooking and cleaning. I took over the place from my father, and not much has changed since then, except maybe a new coat of paint here and there when we have the time. We open up early so the farmers can get what they need before they head out to the fields for the day. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late because of the roads, but we usually have enough stock to keep everyone happy. There is a wooden bench outside where the older men sometimes sit and talk about the weather or the crops. It is a quiet life here, mostly. We do not have a website or any of those modern things. If someone needs something, they just walk in and ask me. We keep a ledger for the regulars who pay at the end of the month. It is how things have always been done in our family. The shelves are a bit crooked in the back, but they hold the sacks of rice and lentils just fine. We just want to be a reliable place for our neighbors to get their supplies.
