K. B. Brush Enterprises

Laddhawala is a busy neighborhood and we are right in the thick of it at Plot No. 145. If you come by our place at K. B. Brush Enterprises, the first thing you’ll probably notice is the smell of wood and synthetic fibers. We make brushes here, so there are always bristles stuck to our clothes and scattered across the floor. It’s a small operation, really. Just a few of us working at the benches. The lighting isn't the best, especially in the back corners, but we know where everything is by heart. The street outside is narrow and sometimes the cows block the way for the delivery rickshaws. It can be a bit chaotic. We’ve had this space for years and haven’t changed much about it. The wooden tables are worn down from years of use. We usually have the radio playing some old songs to keep the mood light while we work. It’s not the kind of place you’d find in a magazine. It’s cluttered with boxes and raw materials waiting to be turned into something useful. When the rain comes, the sound on the roof is so loud we have to shout to hear each other. We take our tea breaks sitting on the front step, watching the locals go about their business. It’s a simple life, making sure each brush is put together properly before it gets packed into a crate and sent out to whoever ordered them that week.
