Chattupara Granites

Chattupara Granites is located over on Kavakkad Road in Ayavana. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the bigger towns nearby. We have been working out of this yard for a good number of years now. Most of the people who come here are just locals from around Ayavana or the neighboring villages. We have a lot of different granite pieces sitting around the yard at number 3. It’s mostly just us and a few workers handling the heavy slabs every day. The work is physical and can be quite tiring when the sun is out, but we like being outdoors. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people just know we are here on the road. Sometimes the slabs get a bit dirty from the rain, so we have to wash them down before someone comes to look. We spend a lot of time just checking for cracks or making sure the polishing is done right. It’s a small operation, really. We don’t try to be something we aren't. If someone needs a piece of stone for a doorstep or a kitchen counter, they just stop their bike and walk in. We talk for a bit, look at the stone, and see if it fits what they want. It’s a slow pace of life here, but the stone business keeps us plenty busy enough throughout the week. We just handle things as they come and try to keep the yard in some kind of order.
