The office and warehouse are situated in Navagam village, which is part of the Dahod tehsil. We are quite close to the Muvalia Dam, so it’s a bit quieter out here than being right in the middle of town. Most of what happens here involves the local farmers and the crops they bring in. We have a large open area where the trucks can pull in and unload their bags. The air smells like dry grain and earth most of the time. It’s a functional space, built for moving goods rather than looking pretty. We spend a lot of time on the phone or writing out receipts on those carbon-copy pads. The building itself is sturdy but shows its age with a few cracks here and there. In the monsoon season, we have to be really careful about the leaks in the roof to keep everything dry. Being near the dam means we see a lot of birds and sometimes a bit of greenery when the rain is good. It’s a long drive for some people to get out to Navagam, but it’s the heart of the agricultural work in this district. We have a few old wooden chairs in the corner for when the drivers have to wait for their paperwork to be finished. There is no fancy lobby or receptionist, just us working through the piles of documents and making sure the marketing of the produce goes as smoothly as it can. It is a lot of dusty, physical work every single day.
