Sunita Rice Mill

Our mill, Sunita Rice Mill, is out in the village of Debipur. To get here, you have to go through Sibai Chak and it falls under the Jalangi police station. It’s a rural area, very different from the big cities. The air is different here, especially during the harvest season. We spend our days surrounded by the sound of the machines and the smell of grain. It’s hard work and it’s loud. The floor is usually covered in a bit of dust from the husks, no matter how much we sweep. We have been part of this village for quite some time now. Local farmers bring their loads to us and we process it. It’s a cycle that follows the seasons. We don't have a website or fancy brochures. Most people just know us by word of mouth in Jalangi. We sit outside on benches when the machines are off and talk about the crops. The building is old but it works for what we need. We don't have air conditioning, just the breeze coming through the open doors. Sometimes we have to fix the belts or oil the parts ourselves. It’s just how things are done here in Debipur. We take pride in the grain that goes out of here, even if we don't say it in a flashy way. It’s just honest work in a quiet corner of the district.
