About Sulekha Textile & Khadi Handloom Center – Fashion & Trends in Murshidabad
Our place, Sulekha Textile & Khadi Handloom Center, is right near the Shiv Mandir in Dangapara. We are very close to the Post Office, so it is hard to miss us if you are in the area. We work with khadi and handloom fabrics. It is old-fashioned work, but we like it that way. The looms make a specific sound that you get used to after a while. My father used to do this, and now we are still at it in Dangapara. We spend most of our time at the center, weaving and checking the threads. It is slow work. You can't make khadi fast. We have stacks of cloth everywhere. Sometimes the goats from outside wander near the door, and we have to shoo them away. It is just a local spot. We don't have fancy signs or anything. People come by because they know we have been here for years. Near the Shiv Mandir, it stays pretty peaceful except during festivals. Then it gets really crowded and loud. We just keep weaving through it all. Sometimes we run out of a certain color of yarn and have to wait for the next delivery to come through the post office. It is a basic setup. We just make the cloth and sell it to whoever needs it. It’s what we know how to do. No big plans, just keeping the handlooms moving. We also make some readymade items if we have the time. It is an honest living. We stay busy from morning until the sun goes down.
