Out here in Vill- Faridabad, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. We are located near Berhampore and everyone in the village knows the Saha family. Making chanachur is a messy business with all the spices and the frying, but it’s what keeps us busy. The post office in Khagra is where we get our mail and the police station isn't too far off either. Basically, our workplace is an extension of where we live. You can usually smell the gram flour and the oil from the main path. Because we use big metal bowls, the floors are always a bit yellow from the turmeric. It isn't a factory with big machines, just a few of us working together. My uncle started this a long time ago and we just kept it going. After we pack everything into bags, we load them up for transport. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to dry things properly, so we have to watch the clouds. If it looks like rain, we hurry to move everything inside. Being on your feet all day is hard work. People stop by to buy a few packets for their evening tea. It is just a local thing here. Instead of a website or anything like that, we just have this physical spot in the village where we work.
