About Progati Rice Mill Private Limited – Agriculture & Farming in Murshidabad
Out in Gramshalika, near the Berhampur area of Murshidabad, you’ll find Progati Rice Mill. We operate from a site where Jiban Sikeh and Tor Hossain are involved. It’s a typical rural setup, surrounded by green fields and dirt roads. The mill is where we spend most of our waking hours. We take the raw paddy and turn it into the rice that people eat every day. The noise of the husking machine is something you just get used to after a while. It’s a gritty job, and your clothes usually end up smelling like toasted grain. We aren't trying to be the biggest mill in West Bengal, just a reliable one for our neighbors. The workers here are all local, and we often share tea during the mid-morning break while the machines are being greased. We don’t have any polished brochures or a corporate office. Our office is just a small room with a wooden desk and a few ledgers where we write down the weights. Sometimes the rain makes the roads to Gramshalika a bit muddy, which slows down the trucks, but we manage. It’s about doing the work right and making sure the rice is clean. We don’t use fancy words to describe what we do. It’s just milling rice, bagging it up, and sending it off to the markets. It’s hard, honest work that keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset in our little corner of Murshidabad.
