Murshidabad Handloom Fabric Collection

We are located in Islampur, specifically over in the Chak Guinpara area. Our space is filled with fabrics that come from around Murshidabad. It’s a lot of handloom work, which means there are always some loose threads or tiny knots in the weave. That is just the nature of it. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack the rolls high against the walls. It can be a bit of a struggle to reach the ones at the top when someone asks to see a specific piece. Islampur is a busy place, and there is always something going on outside our door. We spend a lot of time just folding and unfolding things. People come in and want to feel the texture of the cloth before they decide on anything. We don’t have fancy lighting or displays. It’s just the fabric and us. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, and we just sit by the doorway for some light. It’s a simple setup. We know most of the people who walk past every day. The work is steady but slow because handloom takes time to sort and check. We try to keep things organized, but when a big shipment arrives, the floor disappears under all the cloth. It stays like that for a day or two until we find places for everything. This is our daily life here in Murshidabad Islampur. We just keep at it every single day without much fuss.
