About M/S. Ghosh Oil & Spices Mill – Food & Beverages in Murshidabad
We run the mill over in Dakshin Sudarsanganj village. It’s under the Lalgola post office area in Murshidabad. The machines make a lot of noise throughout the day. We crush oilseeds and grind up spices. Most of the time, the floor is covered in a bit of dust or oil. It’s just the nature of the mill. We’ve been here for a long time. People from the surrounding villages bring their mustard or turmeric to us. We process it and give it back or sell it. It’s a messy job, honestly. Your clothes always smell like mustard oil by the time you go home. We don't have any fancy office staff. It's just us and the machines. Sometimes they break down and we have to fix them ourselves. We keep a few spare parts in the back. The building is old but it stays cool inside. We don't spend money on advertising because the noise of the mill tells everyone we are open. We work six days a week. Sunday is for cleaning the equipment. It’s hard work on the back and shoulders. But it provides for the family. We aren't trying to be the biggest mill around. We just want to do right by the people who come to see us. The village path to Dakshin Sudarsanganj can get a bit muddy during the monsoon. We have to make sure the trucks don't get stuck. Sometimes we have to help push them.
