Jhalak Chemicals

Jhalak Chemicals is situated right on Station Road in Lalgola, so it’s always a bit hectic around here with people coming and going from the trains. The noise from the station is something you eventually stop hearing after a few weeks of working inside. We spend most of our mornings moving the chemical stock around to make sure we can find everything when a customer shows up. The shelves are a bit crooked and the floor has some old marks from where we used to keep the heavier barrels. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that, just a functional space where we handle our business. There’s a small fan in the corner that rattles when it’s on the high setting, but it helps when the humidity gets bad. Lalgola can be a quiet place in the evenings, but during the day, this road is the center of everything. We keep our doors open most of the time to let a breeze in, even if it brings in some of the soot from the tracks. It’s been our home for a while, and we know most of the people who walk past every morning. Sometimes the stock takes longer to arrive than we’d like because of the transport issues, but we manage to get by. Most of our day is just checking labels and making sure the lids are on tight. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us busy from dawn till dusk.
