Purv Bricks

If you head toward the Adani Wilmar Zero Point, you’ll find us working away at Purv Bricks. It is a wide-open area, and the wind can really kick up the dust from the yard when it gets going in the afternoon. We spend our days out there with the clay and the kilns, making bricks the way they’ve always been made. It is a gritty job, and you won't find anyone here with clean hands or shoes. The location near Zero Point is convenient for the big trucks to pull in, though the traffic can be a real nightmare during the peak hours of the day. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles here. There is just the yard, the stacks of finished bricks, and the raw materials waiting to be processed into something useful. Most of our time is spent monitoring the firing process or checking the quality of the batches coming out of the oven. It is physical, outdoor work that depends heavily on what the sky is doing. If it looks like rain, we have to scramble to cover everything up so the unbaked bricks don't melt away. We have a small group of workers who have become like family over the months and years. We just focus on the task of getting the bricks made and loaded onto the trailers. There isn't much more to it than that. It is honest work that leaves you tired.
